West Valley City, Utah - Matt Stefanishion and Oren EIzenman tallied three points, and Jake Moreland turned aside 33 Utah shots, as the Fresno Falcons defeated the Grizzlies 6-1 on Wednesday at The E Center.
Stefanishion opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season 12:34 into the first period. Stefanishion took a pass from P.O. Beaulieu, and uncorked a long shot from just inside the Utah blue line which beat Mike Mole to give Fresno a 1-0 lead.
Fresno doubled the lead at 16:21. Kenny MacAulay intercepted a Utah pass in the neutral zone and beat Mole with another long shot from just inside the Grizzlies' zone for his third of the year, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Falcons extended their lead to 3-0 with a shorthanded tally 8:28 into the second period. Eizenman skated into the Grizzlies' zone, and beat Mole with a snap shot from the top of the right-wing circle.
Eizenman added his second of the night 2:33 into the final period making it 4-0 Fresno. The puck took a weird bounce off the end wall, and caromed in front for Eizenman, who pushed it into a wide-open net for his team-leading 14th goal of the season.
Jarrett Konkle gave the Falcons a 5-0 lead with his 12th goal at 11:37. Stefanishion centered a pass for Konkle in the high slot, and he one-timed a shot past Mole for the tally.
Christian Gaudet spoiled Moreland's shutout bid, flipping a shot past the goaltender off his backhand at 15:42.
Igor Gongalsky set the final, scoring his 10th goal of the season at 17:45, rifling a shot past Mole from the left-wing circle.
