CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have loaned defenseman Brett Motherwell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Motherwell, 23, is in his third professional season and first with the Cyclones. In 48 games with Cincinnati, he has two goals and 26 assists for a team-high 28 points among defensemen. Brett was honored yesterday by being named AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for February- turning in a +14 rating. The St. Charles, Illinois native ranks fifth among ECHL rearguards with a +17 rating for the year.

Motherwell becomes the 16th Cyclones player to earn a promotion to the American Hockey League, as he joins Bridgeport- which is the top affiliate of the New York Islanders (NHL). It is the 24th time a Cincinnati player has earned an AHL opportunity in 2009-2010. The club has had players appear in more than 180 games at the American Hockey League level and has lost 203 man-games due to these promotions.

The game will be carried on ESPN 1530 as well as on the club's website at www.cycloneshockey.com. The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena on Thursday, March 18 with a 7:30pm clash against Johnstown.
