Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Stockton, CA - In a Wednesday night contest, the Victoria Salmon Kings and Stockton Thunder met in the opener of a three-game set at the Stockton Arena. Victoria gave Glenn Fisher the nod in net, while Stockton countered with Andrew Perugini.
The Thunder jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Colin Hemingway took a drop pass from Oren Eizenman and blasted a one-timer from the top of the left face-off circle past Fisher. The Thunder held the 1-0 advantage through the first frame.
Stockton would extend their lead while shorthanded. Chris D'Alvise broke down the right wing then split through two Salmon Kings' defenders in the slot before lifting the puck over Fisher. Victoria got on the board when Matt Siddall fired a shot from the high slot. Perugini kicked the Siddall offering away, but the rebound ended up on Adam Taylor's stick. Taylor would bury the rebound to cut the lead to 2-1. The Thunder regained the two goal advantage on the power play. JF Caudron ended up being the benefactor of a quick passing play as he fired a one-timer from the left face-off dot. Fisher sprawled to make the save, but did not get enough of the puck as it tricked across the goal line. Stockton took a 3-1 lead to the locker room through 40 minutes.
Eizenman qould add a empty net goal late in the third for Stockton. Thunder 4 Salmon Kings 1.
Victoria went 0/30.0% on the power play while Stockton was 1/333.3%. The Thunder out shot the Salmon Kings 41-27.
