Tonight's Matchup: Tonight the Cyclones host their first of two playoff rematches this week as they welcome in the Orlando Solar Bears for the first time since last April's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Cincinnati split a pair of regular season match-ups with the Solar Bears last year before battling through a six-game postseason series to advance. This is the first of six regular season meetings between the two non-division foes.
Tonight's Promotion: Thirsty Thursday / Dumb and Dumber Night - Fans 21 and up can enjoy $1 beers while we pay homage to the 1990's comedy classic "Dumb and Dumber."
Scouting the Solar Bears: Vince Williams' club kicked off its lengthy swing through the North Division on Tuesday night, claiming a 5-4 win against the Evansville IceMen. The Solar Bears have been an offense by committee so far this season, with Jacob Cepis leading the pack with nine points (1g, 8a) in 11 games thus far. However, he's not the only weapon; including Cepis, nine different players have notched six points or better. Between the pipes, Kent Patterson has seen the most action, appearing in seven games with an 1-4-2 record and a 3.05 goals-against average. Garrett Sparks and Maxime Clermont have also spent time in the Orlando net; Sparks, who is currently on injured reserve is 2-0 with a 1.22 GAA while Clermont has posted a 1-1-0 record with a 4.54 GAA.
Last Time Out: Toledo's Joel Chouinard netted the game-ending goal in the 13th round of the shootout to give the Walleye a 4-3 victory over the Cyclones in front of 4,088 at the Huntington Center this past Sunday. It was the longest shootout in club history for both the Cyclones and the Walleye.
Froese on Fire: Cyclones forward Byron Froese has been on a tear of late. The former Chicago Blackhawks draft pick has collected points in five straight games and is the active leader in points (7) on Cincinnati's roster.
Shalla's Surge: Teamed with Byron Froese and Zach Budish, Cyclones forward Josh Shalla has been a consistent point-getter for his team this season. He's the only Cincy player to have a multi-goal game and is the tied for the active lead in multi-point contests (2).
