THE STORY COMING IN: The Road Warriors (6-4-0-0) enter tonight's game with six wins in their last eight overall and a shot at sole possession of first place in the East Division with a victory tonight. In addition, Greenville also has a chance to grab sole possession of second place in the Eastern Conference [currently led by Fort Wayne (18 points)]. This past Monday, the Warriors suffered a 5-1 loss to South Carolina at home. Josh Nicholls scored Greenville's only goal, while Jason Missiaen (2-1-0) made 21 saves in his first loss of the season.
WARRIORS VS. GLADIATORS: Tonight's game marks the second of 11 meetings between the East Division rivals (seven at home, four on the road). The Road Warriors took the first matchup on Oct. 25 when Emerson Clark scored two goals and added two fights en route to a 5-1 win in Northern Georgia. Last season, Greenville went 9-4-0 against Gwinnett and 5-2-0 against the Gladiators on home ice. The Warriors lead the all-time series with a record of 33-22-5. The two teams are separated by just 120 miles.
VIEW FROM GWINNETT: The Gladiators (5-3-0-0) enter tonight's contest on a two-game winning streak and tied for fourth place in the East Division with Orlando. Last time out, forward Greg Carey scored all four goals in a 4-2 win over South Carolina. Netminder Mark Guggenberger stopped 32 shots for his team-high third win of the year. Carey was reassigned by the Arizona Coyotes (NHL) from AHL Portland on Nov. 2 and is tied for the league-lead in shooting percentage (40%). Gwinnett is currently in the middle of a three-game road trip.
ALL IN THE DIVISION: The Road Warriors continue to face East Division rivals tonight when they take on the Gladiators. In fact, each of the first 12 games this season will be against divisional opponents Gwinnett, Orlando and South Carolina.
JEAN GETS THE CALL: Kyle Jean was promoted to the American Hockey League on Monday when he signed a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) with the Charlotte Checkers. In nine games this season with the Road Warriors, the third-year pro led the team in goals (6), power play goals (2), shots (26) and points (10). Last season, the 24 year-old center spent 41 games in the AHL with Hartford and produced four points (2g, 2a) and 29 penalty minutes.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Warriors return to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena tonight for the middle game of a three game home stand. Greenville is currently 2-1-0 at home this season, where the team went 22-12-2 in 2013-14. Overall, the Road Warriors only play on home ice three times during November. In fact, after tomorrow night's rematch against the Gladiators, Greenville will not return home until Dec. 4th.
GOING STREAKING: Josh Nicholls has scored in two straight games while winger Michael St. Croix has earned an assist in each of his last two games at home. In addition, St. Croix has notched a point in six of his last seven games overall and is currently second on the team in scoring with nine points (2g, 7a). Last season, St. Croix finished fourth on the team in scoring (31 points), while Nicholls wound up fifth (42 points).
