Southorn Heads Back North to Portland

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators announced that defenseman Jordon Southorn was reassigned to their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, on Thursday.

Southorn, 24, played in five games with the Gladiators since his assignment on October 27th. In those games, Southorn scored two goals and three assists, including an assist and two goals - one of which was the overtime game-winner - in his debut game on October 29th, a 5-4 OT win over the Orlando Solar Bears.

The Montreal, Quebec native played in one game with the Pirates at the end of last season - picking up two assists in that game - and added on two more games played this season. Last season in 53 games for the Fort Wayne Komets, Southorn collected 12 goals and 20 assists before being loaned to the Pirates on March 12th.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman was drafted in the fourth round (104th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he has played in 210 regular season ECHL games with 105 points to his name (34g, 71a) and a +31 rating.

Southorn departs the Gladiators just ahead of their Thursday night match at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC. The team's next home game will be on Sunday, November 16th against the South Carolina Stingrays for "Stache Bash."
