WHEELING, WV- On Thursday afternoon, the ECHL announced the inductees for the 2015 ECHL Hall of Fame class. One of the inductees is former Wheeling Thunderbirds forward Louis Dumont.

Louis Dumont spent two seasons in Wheeling as a member of the Thunderbirds from 1994-96. The then 21-year old forward began to make his mark on professional hockey as a rookie in 1994-95, accumulating 25 goals, 33 assists, 58 points, and 81 penalty minutes in 62 games. The following year, Dumont posted similar numbers, recording 24 goals, 39 assists, 63 points, and 57 penalty minutes in 66 games with the T-Birds.

After his time in the Ohio Valley, Louis spent parts of the next ten seasons in the ECHL, suiting up with the Louisiana IceGators, Augusta Lynx, Pensacola Ice Pilots, Mississippi Sea Wolves, and Utah Grizzlies. His most productive season came in 2001-02 with Pensacola, when he topped the 100-point plateau, finishing the campaign with 102 to lead the league. His career high in goals occurred in 1996-97, when he lit the lamp 41 times with Louisiana.

Dumont's 566 career assists and 891 career points are the most in ECHL history, while his 771 games played rank third, and his 325 goals are tied for third.

Louis Dumont becomes the third ECHL Hall of Fame member with Wheeling ties, joining Head Coach John Brophy (2009 inductee) and forward Darren Schwartz (2013 inductee).

Dumont, Darren Colbourne, Scott Sabatino, and Carl Scheer will be formally inducted as the eighth class of the ECHL Hall of Fame at a luncheon ceremony that will be held in conjunction with the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando. The 2015 ECHL Hall of Fame luncheon, presented by BFL Canada, will take place on Wednesday, January 21st at noon, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Downtown.
