GREENVILLE, SC - Facing their nearest opponent, and seemingly their fiercest rival, the Gladiators (5-4-0-0) couldn't hold on to defeat the Greenville Road Warriors (7-4-0-0), despite having a lead in the third period. Greg Carey, Nathan Burns, and Garry Nunn all contributed two points on the night, while Adam Brown stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced.

Just like the two Gladiators games over last weekend, the opposition opened up the scoring. Chad Nehring scored his fourth of the season at 13:11 on the power play from Charles-Olivier Roussel and Michael St. Croix. Just prior to the goal, the Gladiators tried to clear out the zone, and almost did at the right point, but the Road Warriors managed to pressure the puck for close to half of the power play, and Nehring took the quick wrist shot from the low slot, to Brown's left, and he banked it in under the crossbar.

In the second, the Gladiators stormed back with nine shots on net, including the game-tying goal from Greg Carey, his fifth of the season, and his fifth straight for the team, dating back to his four-goal effort on Sunday. Just like Nehring's goal, Carey took a quick shot in the low slot to Jeff Malcolm's left, off a loose puck from the corner, and got one past the netminder.

In the third, the Gladiators took the early lead, this time with Carey picking up the primary assist. Out of the corner, Carey found a streaking Nathan Burns coming towards the net, and Burns one-timed the puck in for his first professional goal, just 35 seconds into the frame.

From there, Greenville stormed back with 11 more shots, banking in the game-tying goal from Ryan Hegarty at 8:29, and the game-winner from Josh Nicholls at 14:19. Greenville finished with the advantage in shots, 33-to-24, registering 11 shots each period.

Gwinnett will be back in Greenville again tomorrow night when they take on the Road Warriors for another 7 p.m. contest. The next time they will be home will be on Sunday, the 16th for the culmination of the month of "Movember" with the third annual "Stache Bash" against the Florida Everblades.
