Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (November 13, 2014) - The Quad City Mallards have signed Brad Fogal as an emergency back-up goaltender, the Mallards announced today.

Fogal, 28, rejoins the Mallards after first playing for the Flock as rookie in 2011-12. The 5' 10", 170-pound Sharon, Ontario native makes his return after Mallard netminder Parker Milner signed a professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild earlier this week.

Fogal, who has not played this season, tended goal for the three teams- the Central Hockey League's Tulsa Oilers and Arizona Sundogs and the Southern Professional Hockey League's Fayetteville FireAntz- last year. He spent the second half of the season with Oilers, for whom he played nine games, after playing once earlier in the campaign for the Sundogs. He went 3-6-0 in his ten CHL outings with a 3.39 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. In four SPHL games he turned in a 1-3-0 record along with a 3.79 goals against average and a .880 save percentage.

In 2012-13 Fogal helped the Fort Worth Brahmas to a berth in the CHL President's Cup semi-finals after going 15-12-1 and posting a 2.72 goals against average and a .902 save percentage in 32 regular season games.

Fogal saw action with three teams in 2011-12. He broke in with the Mallards, for whom he went 6-2-0 in ten games with a 3.07 goals against average and a .909 save percentage, before playing a dozen ECHL games- 11 for the Cincinnati Cyclones and one for the Kalamazoo Wings. He went 4-5-3 in the ECHL with a 2.72 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.

Before turning pro Fogal enjoyed a standout four-year career at Adrian College, where he set a Division III record for career wins. Fogal posted a 2.04 goals against average, a .922 save percentage and 15 shutouts while going 93-11-2 in 106 career collegiate games.

As a senior in 2010-11, Fogal went 25-4-1 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .923 save percentage in 30 games while helping Adrian to a fourth straight Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association title, a second consecutive NCAA Frozen Four appearance and a berth in the Division III national title game.

Fogal's accomplishments drew national recognition when he was featured in the pages of Sports Illustrated in the April 4, 2011 edition of "Faces in the Crowd".

The career win mark is just one of a host of milestones reached by Fogal, who was a four-time MCHA All-Conference selection. Fogal finished his collegiate career with the second best save percentage in Division III history (.934) and the MCHA records for wins (70) and minutes (4,138) in conference play.

Before heading to Adrian, Fogal spent three seasons in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League, where he tended goal for the Huntsville Otters, Newmarket Hurricanes and Pickering Panthers.
