Cyclones Fans Donate More Than 1,100 Teddy Bears to Cincinnati Police Department
December 12, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they collected 1,139 teddy bears in this past Saturday's Teddy Bear Toss at U.S. Bank Arena. This year's collection of stuffed animals was donated to the Cincinnati Police Department to assist with their efforts to comfort children in stressful situations.
The sixth-annual event set a record for donations, surpassing last year's totals by more than 200 stuffed animals. Fans were encouraged to bring a new or gently-loved plush toy to throw on the ice after the Cyclones scored their first goal against Toledo.
"We are so proud to once again see such great support from our fans," said Cyclones General Manager Kristin Ropp. "This is one of our signature promotions during the year and we're excited that our generous fan base came out to support this great cause. We were thrilled to partner with the Cincinnati Police Department for this event and hope it can develop into an annual partnership."
The Cyclones had their largest crowd of the season this past Saturday, with 7,723 in the house at U.S. Bank Arena.
The Cyclones will return U.S. Bank Arena TOMORROW night as they will play host to the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm. It will be another Big Beer Tuesday, with $2 24-ounce beers flowing all night long! Secure your seats now by calling 513.421.PUCK or log on to CyclonesHockey.com. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones).
