Sinkewich Called up to AHL's Abbotsford Heat

Alaska Aces defenseman, Russ Sinkewich has been loaned to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Monday. Sinkewich is a fourth-year pro, who has now spent time in the AHL in three of his four seasons. The Aces host the Ontario Reign on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they try to improve upon their league-best, 12-game point streak. Tickets are on sale for all three games. Sinkewich, 26, is a steady, stay-at-home defenseman who is in his second season with the Aces. A big presence at 6'4", 219 lbs., Sinkewich has six points (2g, 4a) and 34 PIM and is a +13 on the season. Sinkewich led all ECHL players with a +15 rating in November, and is tied for fifth overall. He was previously called up to Abbotsford for two games late last season. He has also played for the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Milwaukee Admirals in his career. Last season Sinkewich played in 42 games for the Aces after being acquired during training camp. He finished the year with eight points (2g, 6a), 55 PIM, and a +18 rating. Prior to turning pro, the Westlake, OH native played four seasons of collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University. He is the seventh Aces player to play in the AHL this season joining Chris Langkow, Dan Kissel, Scott Howes, Tyler Ruegsegger, and Peoria Rivermen products, David Shields and Chase Polacek.
