Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators went 0-2-0-1 this past week and slipped into second place in the ECHL's South Division. Gwinnett picked up a point in a shootout loss against the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday afternoon at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators have posted a 10-8-5-3 record overall and are currently in second place in the South Division with 28 points.
Florida Everblades Preview:
The Glads prepare to take on the Everblades at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thursday. This will be their seventh meeting this season, with Gwinnett at 3-1-2-0 record against them. Gwinnett is two points ahead of Florida with 28 points in the South Division. The last two games of their three-game set last weekend, Gwinnett carried both games into overtime for an overtime loss. Gwinnett's defenseman David Stratham had a goal and an assist in the last meeting between the clubs.
South Carolina Stingrays Preview:
This upcoming two-game set will be the Glads and Stingrays seventh meeting this season. The Glads are currently 1-3-1-1 against the Rays, with two of the losses this past weekend. In their game Sunday afternoon, the Glads fell one goal short in a shootout loss. The Glads leading scorer Joey Haddad collected a goal against South Carolina along with a goal from Colin Vock to put the game into overtime on Sunday afternoon. The Stingrays are currently one point ahead of the Gladiators in the South Division.

Thursday, December 8: Gwinnett, 1, Greenville, 3 (L)
Brendan Connolly snapped a 1-1 tie at 9:13 of the third period and Connor Shields added an empty net goal late in the game to lift the host Greenville Road Warriors to a 3-1 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Thursday night. David Strathman had Gwinnett's lone goal in the loss early in the second period.
Saturday, December 10: Gwinnett, 1, South Carolina, 3 (L)
The Gladiators lost 3-1 to the South Carolina Stingrays Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Chris Clackson scored the only goal for the Gladiators with assists from Pat Galivan and Nikita Kashirsky.
Sunday, December 11: Gwinnett, 2, South Carolina, 3 (SOL)
The Gladiators fell a goal short on Sunday, 3-2, in a shootout against South Carolina. With the shootout loss, the Gladiators fell a point back in the South Division. Joey Haddad had a quick goal 17 seconds into the opening period with assists from Tyler Murovich and Dallas Jackson. Colin Vock had a goal in the third to put the game into overtime, but they fell short in the shootout.
News & Notes:
Overtime! The Glads lead the league in games going to overtime. Gwinnett is 0-5 in OT, with all of the losses on the road. Gwinnett has gone into a league leading ten games passed regulation. Gwinnett has posted a 2-0-5-3 record in games passed regulation this season.
75 Points: Forward Nikita Kashirsky collected an assist in Saturday night's 3-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays giving him 75 points in his ECHL career. The forward, who played parts of two seasons with the South Carolina Stingrays, entered the season with 61 points in his ECHL career. He has collected 14 points (five goals, nine assists) with the Gladiators in 24 games this season with Gwinnett .
Getting Going: The Gladiators forward Colin Vock has stepped it up in his past seven games for Gwinnett. The forward has four goals and four assists for eight points over that span for the Gladiators. After playing overseas last season, Vock notched just one assist in his first seven games with Gwinnett.
Back from the A: Netminder Jeff Jakaitis was re-assigned to the Gladiators earlier last week and did not skip a beat. He is ranked fifth of the top ten goalies in the ECHL. He has played nine games for the Glads this season, with a record of 5-3-0-1. His first shootout loss for the Glads came Sunday against the South Carolina Stingrays, where he had several stellar saves. Jakaitis did not appear in a game with the Rochester American while on recall to the AHL.
Joey Haddad: Gladiators forward Joey Haddad is tops for Gwinnett with 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) this season. In his last game against the South Carolina Stingrays, Haddad had quick goal just 17 seconds into the opening period. Haddad has registered at least a point in 15 of 22 games this season for Gwinnett.
Season High: It was a season high of 9,059 in attendance for Saturday night's game against the South Carolina Stingrays at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Gwinnett has averaged over 5,000 fans since the team's inaugural season back in 2003-04.
Upcoming Events:
Toys for Tots: The Gladiators will be participating in Toys for Tots on Thursday, December 15. Bring an unwrapped toy to donate, and receive a $10 Luxury Club-Level seat. These vouchers are only valid for the remaining games in December.
The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
