
Cutters Solid Pitching Leads to Win Over Auburn

The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up their second consecutive win on Thursday night against the Auburn Doubledays by a score of 6-1.
Jan Hernandez finished the night 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Williamsport was able to get an early lead in front of the home crowd scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI single from Hernandez. Mark Laird kicked off the inning with a single and would eventually move over to third base after a defensive miscue by the Doubledays.
The Cutters would stay hot against Auburn starter Jefry Rodriguez adding two more runs in the second inning. Zach Cappola reached base to start the inning with his first single of the night. Laird would drive in Coppola two batters later to pick up his first RBI in a Cutters uniform. Laird scored from third base to give the Cutters a 3-0 lead after a throwing error from Auburn catcher Jakson Reetz.
Hernandez kept the Cutters scoring streak alive in the third inning launching his third home run of the season with one out to make it a 4-0 game. Gregori Rivero joined in on the fun in the eighth inning connecting on his first home run of the season to give the Cutters a 6-1 lead. Jefry Rodriguez picked up his second loss of the season for Auburn. Alejandro Arteaga picked up his third win this year by working five innings of one run baseball for the Cutters. Arteaga struck out six batters while walking three and yielding two hits. Will Morris tossed three scoreless innings in relief allowing just one hit to keep the Auburn offense at bay. With the win the Cutters stay undefeated at home this season moving to 8-0 while putting together their first multi home run game.
