-SPIKES LOOK FOR BACK-TO-BACK WINS VS. BLACK BEARS TONIGHT:The State College Spikes continue their 10th Season as they seek their first-ever series victory against the West Virginia Black Bears tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Black Bears, who relocated from Jamestown after last season, will face the Spikes a total of 11 times this season. State College comes off of a 3-2 road trip through Mahoning Valley and Staten Island, including a two-game sweep of the Scrappers. Tonight's game is the second in a three-game homestand for the Spikes, with West Virginia providing the opposition all three nights. State College went 46-44 against the Jamestown Jammers from 2006-2014, including a 22-22 record at home.

-LAST GAME: In his third professional game, Josh Swirchak knocked in four runs to pace the Spikes' offense to a 5-2 victory over the West Virginia Black Bears on Wednesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Swirchak, who signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on June 13 out of Wilmington University in Delaware, produced his first two runs batted in with a base hit to right-center field. The Manassas, VA native then doubled to left-center in the eighth to score two more runs and give the Spikes some insurance. The Spikes' lead held up thanks to a solid two-man pitching effort. Starter Ian McKinney logged six innings of one-run ball, yielding six hits and two walks while recording four strikeouts for the win. Tyler Bray yielded a run over three hits and a walk over the final three innings, but also struck out three as he earned his first save with State College in 2015.

-RODRIGUEZ STARTS FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Jorge Rodriguez looks to follow an outstanding start ont he mound last time out with another one this evening as he takes the ball for State College. Rodriguez tossed five shutout innings and retired the last ten batters he faced against Mahoning Valley this past Friday. The right-hander gave up just one hit and two walks in the outing. The San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native led GCL with two complete games in 2014 and was one of only two pitchers to post a shutout (tossing 5 2/3 innings in a rain-shortened game) in that season. Rodriguez did not allow a run over his first 15 innings with the GCL Cards after pitching the 2012 and 2013 seasons for the Dominican Summer League Cardinals.

-MEYER MAKES PRO DEBUT FOR BLACK BEARS: Right-hander Stephan Meyer will get the start for West Virginia tonight in his first professional appearance. Meyer, the Pirates' 18th-round draft choice in 2015 out of Bellevue University in Nebraska, went 11-2 with six complete games this past spring. The Tucson, AZ native struck out 101 batters and walked 30 over 92 innings of work, posting a 1.47 ERA in the process. Meyer was named an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American at Bellevue this season, and helped the school put together a 46-15 season in which it hosted the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament

-BADER JOINS THE SPIKES IN A BIG WAY: The Spikes welcomed Harrison Bader, the 2015 third-round draft choice of the St. Louis Cardinals, to the club two days ago, and the former University of Florida outfielder has not disapppointed. Bader clubbed two home runs in his professional debut two nights ago in Staten Island, becoming the first player to go deep twice in his first game with the Spikes since Rowan Wick last year, and followed with two hits last night. Bader was named to the College World Series All-Tournament Team after hitting. 348 with two home runs and five RBI over four games in Omaha.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tonight is the first Bark in the Park Night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park this season, where fans can bring their dogs to the game...Ronnierd Garcia, who was out of action last night, is third in the New York-Penn League with a .406 batting average...Garcia's .486 on-base percentage is tied for second-best in the loop as well...Landon Beck's 0.60 WHIP is second in the NYPL
