Doubledays Manage just Three Hits in Loss

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Doubledays dropped game two of a three-game series with the Crosscutters 6-1 on Thursday evening. Auburn's offense was silenced throughout the game as the Doubledays recorded a season-low three hits, all of which were singles.
Williamsport took the lead early in the first off a pair of singles and an error. The first run was scored by Mark Laird when he was driven in by Jan Hernandez's single into left with two outs.
In the second, the Crosscutters tacked on two more to go up 3-0 thanks to a trio of singles by Zach Coppola, Venn Biter, and Laird. In the very next inning, Williamsport extended it's lead to 4-0 thanks to a solo homer from Hernandez, his third of the season.
Auburn finally scored a run in the fourth when Ian Sagdal drove in Dalton Dulin on a single into center. The fourth inning was the only inning the Doubledays had multiple hitters reach base. Dulin walked, Sagdal single, and Matthew Page singled, but was Page stranded on third
An inning later in the home half of the fifth, the Crosscutters added to their lead when Coppola drove in Hernandez with a single into centerfield.
The final run of the evening came in the eighth inning when Gregori Rivero hit a solo home run over the wall in right to give Williamsport a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Juan Figueroa came in to face the three, four, and five hitters for the Doubledays and retired the side in order to win the game.
Jefry Rodriguez started for Auburn on the mound and his line was: 5 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. Alejandro Arteaga started for Williamsport and his line was: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K.
The Doubledays look to avoid the sweep tomorrow night at 7:05 PM against the Crosscutters. Matt Crownover (0-2, 10.80 ERA) takes the mound for Auburn against Franklyn Kilome (1-0, 0.77 ERA) for Williamsport.
