Cutters Snap IronBirds Win Streak

Aberdeen IronBirds News Release


The IronBirds fell to Williamsport Friday night by a score of 4-2. A ninth inning rally gave Aberdeen a fighting chance, but they were unable to get the runs they needed.

Start It Up

With DJ Stewart at second base and Kirvin Moesquit at third due to a passed ball, Randy Gassaway hit a groundout RBI to score Moesquit, giving the IronBirds their first and only lead of the game at 1-0

Keeping Up With the Birds's

With the bases loaded in the second, Crosscutters catcher Gregori Rivero hit into a fielders choice at first base to score teammate Jose Pujols from third. Following Rivero was Jan Hernandez, who popped a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Brandon Hayden to tag and extend the lead to 2-1. The third run of the inning for Williamsport came from a Mark Laird base hit to move Jan Hernandez home. 3-1.

Piling It On

Jose Pujols came to the plate in the fifth and added another run to the board with an RBI groundout to second base to get Zach Coppola to home.

Never Give Up, Never Surrender

IronBirds Mike Odenwaelder cut the Crosscutter lead to two when he was driven in by a Drew Turbin RBI single, 4-2.

Birdwatching

Randy Gassaway recorded an RBI... Drew Turbin recorded an RBI single... Ricardo Andujar, Drew Turbin, Kirvin Moesquit, and Cedric Mullins have hit in back-to-back games... Steve Laurino extends his hitting streak to three games...The IronBirds snapped a four game win streak.. The IronBirds did not commit an error for the first time in four games.
