Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY (7/24/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the State College Spikes by a score of 2-0 on Friday evening at Dutchess Stadium.
State College scored their two runs in the top of the first inning as after left fielder Michael Pritchard and right fielder Thomas Spitz each singled, they both came around to score when shortstop Leobaldo Pina reached on a fielding error.
Hudson Valley had their best scoring chance of the evening in the bottom of the fifth inning. Left fielder Jose Paez reached on an error and moved to second on a single by first baseman Nic Wilson. After catcher Taylor Hawkins struck out, second baseman Jake Cronenworth walked to load the bases with one out. But State College's starting pitcher Juan Perez (4-1), struck out shortstop Michael Russell and induced third baseman Matt Dacey to fly out and kept the score at 2-0.
Hudson Valley had one last chance to score in the bottom of the ninth inning with runners on first and second base with one out but State College's reliever Landon Beck recorded the final two outs to pick up the save.
Perez went five innings in the win and gave up three hits while striking out seven batters. Angel Yepez (2-1) took the loss for Hudson Valley despite giving up two un-earned runs and walked none in six innings of work. Tim Ingram worked three scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Hudson Valley, allowing just one hit
With the result, Hudson Valley falls to 18-15 and State College improves their record to 16-17.
Notes: The three innings of work out of the bullpen was Tim Ingram's longest appearance out of the bullpen in 2015. And Ingram has been a rock in the Renegades bullpen since the start of July. In five appearances, he has allowed one un-earned run in 10 and two-thirds innings off five hits and struck out seven batters.
The Renegades continue their three-game series against the State College Spikes on Saturday, July 25th with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. Saturday night is "Christmas in July Night" at Dutchess Stadium, with a postgame fireworks show following the game. Call 845-838-0094, or visit www.hvrenegades.com to purchase your tickets now.
