Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters dropped a 4-2 decision on Sunday afternoon against the Aberdeen IronBirds at Ripken Stadium to snap a three game winning streak. The Cutters finished their first six game road trip of the season with a .500 mark by going 3-3. The bullpen was the star of the night as three pitchers combined to toss four scoreless innings and give the Cutters offense a chance for a rally.
The Cutters fell behind in the bottom of the first inning after Kirvin Moesquit advanced to third base on a wild pitch and then scored on an error by Cutters catcher Gregori Rivero to make it 1-0. Luke Leftwich would work out of the inning allowing just the single run to score. Aberdeen put the pressure on Leftwich again in the bottom of the third inning plating a pair of runs on four base hits to take a 3-0 lead.
Williamsport would see the IronBirds lead stretch to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning before the bullpen would take over. Kenny Koplove was first out of the bullpen for the Cutters as he worked two scoreless innings while helping swing some momentum to his team's side. Andrew Godail followed by working a scoreless seventh inning. The Cutters would string together some offense in the sixth and seventh innings picking up a run in each.
Andrew Amaro lead off the sixth inning with his first double of the season to give the Cutters a runner in scoring position. Amaro moved over to third base on a ground out and would score on a sacrifice fly from Mark laird to make it 4-1. In the seventh inning Jesus Posso socred Venn Biter from third base on an RBI groundout to second base to cut the IronBirds lead to 4-2. Biter reached base on a throwing error from the Aberdeen Shortstop. Jacob Waguespack worked a scoreless eighth inning in his second appearance but the rally would be too late for the Cutters in the end.
