July 4, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters fell for just the second time this season with a 2-0 loss on Saturday night against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Crosscutters will look to take game two of the series tomorrow night in Brooklyn. This three game series will be the only match-up during the regular season for the two teams.

Josh Tobias finished the night 2 for 3 with a single and a double while also turning a double play at second base for the Cutters. The Cyclones scored the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth inning as they were able to load the bases against Williamsport starter Jose Taveras. Vinny Siena scored from third base off a wild pitch that evaded Rivero and made its way to the backstop to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

The Cutters had one final chance to try and tie the game up in the eighth inning as Josh Tobias kicked the inning off with a double to put himself into scoring position. During the next at bat he would move up to third base on a passed ball. Cyclones reliever PJ Conlon did his part to retire the next three Cutters batters in order to strand the runner at third base.

Brooklyn added their final run of the night in the bottom of the eighth inning as Brandon Brosher took Rob Tasin deep to left field to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead. The home run was the first hit that Tasin has allowed on the season. The Cutters used just two pitchers on the night holding the Cyclones to three hits. Jose Taveras was dealt with the loss after tossing six innings and striking out six batters. Blackham had the Cutters number on the night picking up his second win while striking out nine Williamsport batters in the process and walking just one on three hits.
