-SPIKES HEAD TO AUBURN FOR THE HOLIDAY TONIGHT:The State College Spikes are on the road on July 4 for the first time in three years as the club's 10th Season continues with the opener of a three-game series at Falcon Park against the Auburn Doubledays. The Doubledays took two out of three from the Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park from June 22-24. State College is 8-1 all-time on Independence Day, with the only loss coming at Auburn's hands on 9-5 in 10 innings back in 2011 at Falcon Park. The Spikes are 47-46 against the Doubledays over ten seasons, including a 23-22 record in games played in Auburn.

-LAST GAME: Casey Grayson produced three hits and three runs batted in to lead the Spikes offense, and the Spikes earned their first series victory at home in 2015 with a 6-1 win over the West Virginia Black Bears on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. A crowd of 5,058 fans saw Grayson tie the game in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out double to left. The first baseman then gave the Spikes a lead that they would not relinquish when he drove in two more runs with a bases-loaded single in the third inning. Dailyn Martinez made Grayson's effort count with another strong start on the mound for State College. Martinez allowed just one unearned run on three hits and four walks while striking out two over six innings for the win.

-PEREZ GETS START FOR SPIKES ON FOURTH: Right-hander Luis Perez has wins in each of his first two starts, and looks make it three tonight as he takes the ball for State College. Last time out, Perez allowed one run on three hits and four walks for the victory at Staten Island this past Sunday. The right-hander has yielded exactly one run over five innings in each of his first two starts, including a win over Auburn on June 21 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The San Felipe, Venezuela native struck out a career-high 10 batters over six innings for the win in Game 1 of the Appalachian League Championship Series last year, helping Johnson City to eventually beat Danville for the title. The 20-year-old righty also faced 191 batters without allowing a home run while with the 2013 Gulf Coast League Cardinals.

-FEDDE CONTINUES COMEBACK EFFORT WITH TONIGHT'S START: Right-hander Erick Fedde, the 18th overall choice in the 2014 MLB Draft, will get the start for Auburn tonight in his third appearance of the year. Fedde missed all of last season after being drafted due to undergoing Tommy John surgery. Fedde allowed four runs over four innings in his last start against Brooklyn on Sunday, but no earned runs. The UNLV product has struck out nine batters and walked three over his first two starts. Prior to his surgery, Fedde went 8-2 with a 1.76 ERA and 86 strikeouts over 76 2/3 innings, numbers good enough to net him Second-Team All-America honors despite his injury.

-GRAYSON DELIVERING BIG NUMBERS: Casey Grayson has reached base in all 14 Spikes games so far to tie for the longest active streak in the New York-Penn League. The University of Houston product is now hitting .408, the best mark in the NYPL, with 10 runs batted in, and his .491 on-base percentage ranks first in the league as well. Grayson has been held hitless in just two contests this year, and has seven multi-hit games, including his three-hit performance last night. For the season, Grayson is also 6-for-8, with an .833 on-base percentage, when there are runners in scoring position and two outs.

-SPIKE MARKS: Dailyn Martinez has not allowed an earned run over his last 13 innings of work, reducing his ERA from 16.20 to 3.31 over that span..Ronnierd Garcia, who is currently out of action, is second in the New York-Penn League behind Grayson with a .406 batting average...Garcia's .486 on-base percentage is also second behind Grayson...Mike Pritchard has struck out just once every 26 plate appearances, the third-best ratio in the league...Thomas Spitz has also reached base at least once in every game he has played this year, a string of 12 straight games...The Spikes have been on the road for the Fourth of July just twice in team history (2011-12)
