Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters saw the Mahoning Valley Scrappers respond with an offensive outburst on Tuesday night with a 10-5 win at Eastwood Field. Williamsport battled three times in the game but would only get as close as two runs within the Scrappers. The Cutters remain in first place in the Pinckney Division and will look to win the series tomorrow night against the Scrappers.
The Crosscutters offense was slow to start against Mahoning Valley starter Kieran Lovegrove as he retired the first six batters that he would see come to the plate. Mahoning Valley struck for the games first runs in the home half of the second inning as they picked up three runs. The Scrappers would send nine batters to the plate against Cutters starter Franklyn Kilome to take a 3-0 lead.
Williamsport after falling behind 5-0 would rally in the top of the fifth inning by scoring three runs. Andrew Amaro delivered his second hit of the game as his two RBI single would make it a 5-2 game. In the next at bat, Josh Tobias made it 5-3 as he reached on a fielding error allowing Mark Laird to score from third base. After falling behind 7-3, Williamsport would mount another rally by scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Dylan Bosheers would draw a walk to start the inning and would be followed by a single from Mark Laird. Tobias would score both of them with a two RBI single to make it a 7-5 ballgame. That would be as close as the Cutters would get the rest of the way as Mahoning Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 10- 5 lead. The Cutters sit in first place in the Pinckney Division with a five game lead over second place West Virginia after they lost 8-3 against Auburn at home.
