State College Spikes News Release

BATAVIA, NY - Tuesday night's scheduled 7:05 p.m. game between the State College Spikes and Batavia Muckdogs at Dwyer Stadium has been postponed due to wet grounds after inclement weather passed through the Batavia area.

The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games tomorrow. Game one will begin at 5:05 p.m., with the second game occurring approximately 30 minutes after its conclusion.

State College will send right-hander Dailyn Martinez (2-3), originally slated to start Tuesday's game, to the mound for Wednesday's opener. Right-hander Juan Perez (4-1) will get the ball for the second game.

Left-hander Brett Lilek (0-2) starts on the mound for the Muckdogs in the first game after being scheduled to start on Tuesday. Batavia will send left-hander Scott Squier (2-0) to the mound.

After finishing the six-game road swing with a trio of contests in West Virginia, the Spikes return home on Sunday, August 9 to start a three-game homestand with a 6:05 p.m. game against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians). Fans can help honor one of the finest running backs in pro football history with a Jerome Bettis Gold Jacket Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by The Nittany Lion Inn & The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel and ESPN Radio 1450 to the first 1,000 fans.

Plus, the Spikes will wear special Jerome Bettis Gold Jacket Jerseys that will match what "The Bus" will be wearing as he enters pro football's most hallowed club in Canton. The jerseys will then be up for bids in a Jersey-off-the-Back Auction, presented by PSECU to benefit Children's Miracle Network. After the game, PSECU also presents a fantastic FIREWORKS show.
