Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Chace Numata tied the game on a solo homer to lead off the ninth inning, before Roman Quinn hit a sac fly to score Tyler Greene for the eventual game-winning run as Williamsport beat Batavia 5-4 Saturday night.

The Cutters were 1-26 when trailing going into the ninth, but took the lead and held on when Geoff Broussard got Danny Stienstra to fly out to end the game.

The win is Williamsport's fourth straight, which is the longest winning streak in the league.

Josh Warner got the start and had his best outing in over a month, allowing just one run in five innings.

Williamsport took the lead in the third inning when Greene scored on a Cameron Perkins seeing-eye single. Perkins had his best night as a Cutter, going 4-for-4.

Batavia tied the game in the fifth, and took the lead in the seventh, scoring three runs off of Ramon Oviedo.

But the Cutters rallied back, as Chris Serritella cut it to 4-3 in the eighth on a two-run double to left field.

After Numata tied the game off of Yunier Castillo, Greene hit a flare to left. But Muckdogs left fielder Gary Apelian dove, missed and had the ball roll all the way to the wall. Greene legged out a triple on the play and scored when Quinn hit a long fly ball to center fielder Steve Ramos. Greene beat the throw to give the Cutters the eventual game-winning run.

The Crosscutters improve to 19-33 and are riding their longest winning streak of the season.

Williamsport goes for their fifth in a row tomorrow against Batavia. First pitch is at 1:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
