Tigers Persevere for 3-1 Win

ABERDEEN, MD-The Connecticut Tigers (24-28) fought off a rain delay of over hour and 18 minutes to earn a 3- 1 win versus the Aberdeen IronBirds (22-31) at Ripken Stadium on Saturday night.

LHP Josh Turley (3-0) picked up the win with one -third of an inning of relief.

The Tigers scored two runs in the third inning before the rains came shortly before 8:00 p.m. SS Jared Reaves (1- 3) doubled and scored on a two-run home run by CF Jake Stewart (2-4) for a 2-0 lead.

The IronBirds got two runners on base with no one out in the third inning and when played resumed at 9:05 p.m.

CF Anthony Vega (1-2) finished his at-bat with a sacrifice fly to right field to score 1B Cameron Edman (1-3) from third base and cut the lead for Connecticut to 2-1.

Tigers' DH Zach Kirksey (0-3) led off the seventh inning with a walk and stole second and third base. C Benett Pickar (0-2) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Kirksey for a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers and Aberdeen IronBirds finish their series on Sunday afternoon at 2:35 p.m. LHP Hua-Wei Lo (2-1, 2.70) gets the start for Connecticut against RHP Kevin Gausman (0-0, 0.00) for Aberdeen. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 2:20 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
