-SPIKES START FINAL PHASE OF UPSTATE NEW YORK TOUR TONIGHT: The State College Spikes continue a six-night, three-city trip through upstate New York tonight with the first of two games against the Jamestown Jammers at Russell Diethrick Park. This is the first meeting of the season between the Spikes and Jammers, who are due to meet each other ten times over the rest of the NYPL slate. The Spikes will play the Auburn Doubledays eight more times as well over that span. State College is 26-34 against Auburn all-time, with a 13-17 mark at Diethrick Park.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes persevered through the first six innings, and the Auburn Doubledays' late miscues allowed the Spikes to surge to a 4-2 win on Thursday night at Falcon Park. After Chris Marrero homered in the first and an unearned run scored in the fourth, the Spikes plated three runs in the seventh inning thanks to two Auburn errors and hits from D. J. Crumlich and Jacob Stallings. Pat Ludwig earned the win and Kyle Haynes his sixth save in as many chances.

-NEWLY MINTED 18-YEAR-OLD HEREDIA THROWS TONIGHT: Right-hander Luis Heredia, who turned 18 yesterday, makes his tenth start of the year for the Spikes. Heredia allowed three runs on four hits and a walk over five innings last time out against Aberdeen, but also struck out three and left with the lead before eventually getting a no-decision. Born in Mazatlan, Mexico, Heredia holds the eight-best ERA in the NYPL and the second-best mark in the Pirates minor league system.

-JAMMERS LOOK TO REYES FOR A LITTLE HELP: Right-hander Helpi Reyes is slated to start for the Jammers tonight. Reyes returns to the Jammers this year after spending much of 2011 with Jamestown. The native of the Dominican Republic faced the Spikes on three occasions last season, going 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA (6 ER, 15 IP) and ten strikeouts to seven walks.

-STALLINGS ADDED TO SPIKES SELECTED FOR ALL-STAR GAME: Catcher Jacob Stallings has been named to the 2012 New York-Penn League All-Star Game, to be played Tuesday at Eastwood Field in Niles, OH. Stallings replaces Tri-City catcher Jobduan Morales, who was promoted to Single-A Lexington. Stallings joins outfielders Barrett Barnes and Tyler Gaffney as well as infielder D.J. Crumlich on the National League squad, though Barnes will be unable to play due to injury.

-SPIKE MARKS: All four of the scheduled starters in this series (Heredia, Reyes, Clay Holmes and Mason Hope) are 20 years of age or under, with Reyes having turned 20 just a month ago...The Spikes struck out a season-high 15 times last night, but Auburn's four errors were a season-high for a Spikes opponent...State College hosts Jamestown for a two-game home set August 15-16
