Curve Split Double Header

ALTOONA, PA - Jason Delaney and Jonel Pacheco each belted home runs and the Curve rebounded after a loss in game one to win game two of Thursday's double-header 4-2 over New Britain at Blair County Ballpark.

Three of the four Curve runs came off the two home runs, Delaney went yard first in the third inning with a two run blast and Pacheco hit his team high seventh homer in the fourth inning. Jose Tabata singled home speedy Gorkys Hernandez for the final Curve run of the ballgame. Pacheco extended his season best hitting streak which now stands at eight games.

Curve starter Kyle Bloom (1-4) picked up his first win of the season. The Illinois native tossed a five innings and allowed just one run on two hits with four strikeouts and Sean Smith picked up his third save in four tries.

Altoona (23-43) has now won four of its last five games and won its second consecutive series for the first time in 2009. The Curve will look to continue its recent success Friday night when the welcome the Connecticut Defenders (AA-San Francisco Giants) for a three game series at Blair County Ballpark. RHP Yoslan Herrera (4-0, 3.50) will get the start for the Curve and he will be up against Connecticut LHP Madison Bumgarner (4-1, 2.38). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday night with radio coverage beginning 6:35 p.m. ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

Friday night will also feature a fun giveaway for the kids as the first 2,000 fans under 14 will receive a free Webkinz. Tickets for Friday's contest are still available and can be obtained by calling in at 877-99-CURVE, online at altoonacurve.com, or in person at the Curve ticket office.
