ERIE, PA - Reigning Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, SeaWolves starter Alfredo Figaro, has been called up to the Detroit Tigers and will start on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Figaro takes the spot of Dontrelle Willis who was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to June 15, with anxiety disorder.

Figaro made 11 starts for the SeaWolves and was 5-2 with a 4.10 ERA. In 68 innings, he allowed 34 runs, 31 earned, on 56 hits with 17 walks and 59 strikeouts. He was second on the club with the 59 K's.

The Samana, Dominican Republic native won the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this season after posting a record of 2-0 with 18 strikeouts and a 2.51 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched last week.

Figaro made his first appearance of the week on Tuesday night against Portland and pitched seven strong innings to earn the win as Erie downed Portland 11-2. He struck out eight batters and did not issue a walk while giving up two runs on five hits.

The 24-year old was equally impressive in his second start of the week on Sunday against New Hampshire, giving up two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over 7.1 innings in a 7-2 win over the Fisher Cats.

Figaro is the first current SeaWolf to make it to Detroit this season. Earlier in the season, Wilkin Ramirez and Luke French from the 2008 club were called up.

Figaro becomes the 130th player in the 15-year history of the SeaWolves to make it to the Major Leagues and the 86th since becoming a Detroit Tigers affiliate in 2001.
