Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA, PA - A Curve ninth inning rally came up just short as Erie held on for a 3-1 win Friday night at Blair County Ballpark.

With the Curve trailing 3-0 with two outs in the ninth, Jamie Romak smashed an RBI double into left center scoring James Boone. Erie's Cody Satterwhite then came on to shut the door on the Curve rally recording his second save of the season.

Erie got off to a quick start, tallying three first innings runs. Brennan Boesch hit an RBI double for the first run of the contest and then scored on a Diek Scram single. Erie's final run would come on a Jeff Frazier fielder's choice.

Erie (6-3) got another great outing from their starting rotation on Friday. Brooks Brown (1-0), threw seven scoreless innings, scattering three hits and walking one.

Altoona (0-8) saw starter Jared Hughes (0-1) record only two outs before having to be taken out due to a high pitch count. The Curve bullpen had strong performance with relievers Jean Machi, Eric Krebs, Lincoln Holdzkom, and Shawn Nottingham, throwing a combined 8.1 innings allowing no runs and four hits.

The Curve will try to put their first ‘W' into the win column Saturday when they take on Erie at 5:05 at BCB. The Curve will throw right hander Mike Crotta (0-0, 0.00) who threw five scoreless innings in a 2-1 loss at Erie last Saturday. Erie will start Luis Marte who is 0-1 on the year with a 3.18 ERA.

Radio coverage for Saturday's game will start at 4:35 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM, and the Curve Radio Network. Featured in Saturday's contest will be the newest entertainment in baseball, the Inflamaniacs. Tickets are still available for Saturday.
