Rock Cats Fall To Fisher Cats In Front Of Sellout Crowd

New Britain, CT - New Hampshire exploded for five runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth as the Fisher Cats cruised to an 11-1 victory in front of a sellout crowd of 7,168 at New Britain Stadium.

New Hampshire pounded out 17 hits on the day, led by a three-hit, three-RBI effort by Brad Emaus. Every batter in the Fisher Cats' lineup had at least one hit, with Emaus and Brian Dopirak turning in three-hits apiece. Todd Donovan (East Lyme, CT), David Cooper, and Gutierrez added two hits apiece.

Rock Cats starter Cole Devries held the Fisher Cats scoreless through the first four innings, but the wheels fell off in the fifth inning as the Fisher Cats exploded for five runs. Chris Gutierrez started off the fifth with a single to center field and Sean Shoffit reached base on a walk. Jonathon Diaz moved both runners up with a bunt single. That set the stage for Emaus, who delivered a two-run single to right field. David Cooper followed with an RBI single that put the Fisher Cats ahead, 3-0. Devries (1-1) was replaced by Yohan Pino, but the Fisher Cats' jumped all over the Rock Cats' reliever. Dopirak, the first batter Pino faced, knocked in Emaus with a single to right field and Brian Jeroloman added an RBI double.

The Fisher Cats struck for six more runs in the sixth inning. Pino surrendered seven hits in the sixth inning, including RBI singles by Emaus and Dopirak that widened the gap, 7-0. Jeroloman and Adam Calderone capped off the scoring frenzy with back-to-back homers, with Jeroloman delivering a three-run blast and Calderone following with a solo shot of his own.

The Rock Cats held an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Matt Moses led off the inning with a double to center field and scored on a one-out single by Whitney Robbins.

Randy Boone picked up the win for the Fisher Cats. Boone (1-0) tossed six solid innings, limiting the Rock Cats to one unearned run on six hits through six innings.

Devries finished with five runs on six hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. Pino labored through 1 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and six runs.
