ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves continue their seven-game road trip as they take the field in the second game of a four-game series against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Blair County Ballpark. Last night's 3-0, one-hit performance by the Howlers ended a three-game losing skid to put the team two games over .500, keeping them in a
second place tie in the Southern Division. All five of Erie's wins have come against Altoona. Altoona has dropped seven straight to start the season, all by three runs or fewer....Tonight's game features the top two hitters in the EL. Altoona's Brian Friday leads the league with a .500 batting average while Erie's Scott Sizemore is second with a .452 average...The SeaWolves have been held without a home run in their last six games. Erie last home run came off the bat of Max Leon in the second game of the season against the Curve...Righty Brooks Brown makes his second start of the season for Erie and his second start against the Curve. He took a no-decision in his first
outing against Altoona on April 11 going five shutout innings, allowing four hits...Righty Jared Hughes makes his second start for Altoona against Erie. Hughes tossed
hitless inning against the 'Wolves on April 10 with a walk and four strikeouts. Hughes was the Pirates fourth round selection in the June 2006 draft out of Long Beach State University...Erie pitchers have walked just 20 on the season which ties for the league lead with Harrisburg. The staff has given up 75 hits with is the most in the EL.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -
- 11 of the 24 players on Erie's roster are featured among the Top 30 prospects in the Tigers organization according to Baseball America.
- Erie will see just two different opponents (Altoona and Bowie) in the first two weeks of the season. (8 vs. Altoona and 6 vs. Bowie).
- Erie leads the season series over Altoona 5-0. The 'Wolves and Curve meet 25 times in 2009.
- Scott Sizemore has hit safely in five straight and seven of the first eight games of the season. He leads the league with 14 hits and is tied for the league lead with two triples with Altoona's Brian Friday.
- Erie's pitching staff ranks 10th in the league with a 3.75 ERA. Altoona's pitching staff ranks last in the league with a 4.89 team ERA.
- Mike Hollimon is listed as day-to-day after crashing into the wall down the left field line in Tuesday night's game.
- Erie's offense ranks eighth in the EL with a .233 team batting average. Altoona is ranked ninth with a .232 team average.
- Last night was the second time in the last three seasons Erie has taken a no-hitter into the last inning. In 2007, the 'Wolves lost a combined no-hitter in a game started by Nate Roberston on rehab against Altoona. The club lost the no-no in the top of the seventh with one out.
- The lone no-hitter in SeaWolves history remains that of Elvin Hernandez on August 24, 1995. He threw the no-hitter at Demaschke Field against the Oneonta Tigers.
