Defenders Fall 5-4 in the 10th/ Series tied 1-1

NORWICH, CT- The Defenders and Thunder battled back and forth but eventually into extra innings where Trenton prevailed on a wild pitch to take game two of four 5-4.

Defenders reliever LHP-Jesse English dealt a wild pitch that skipped away from his catcher Jackson Williams to his right and allowed Eduardo Nunez to score the go ahead run in the top of the tenth.

Trenton struck first in the second inning on a leadoff double by RF-Edwar Gonzalez and later scored on a C-Cervelli grounder to short to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead, their first of the series.

Connecticut responded in the home half of the inning taking advantage of a Nunez error to score 1B-Brett Pill who doubled to leadoff and then a SS-Brian Bocock single to plate Mooney, the Defenders regained control 2-1.

The Thunder drove Defenders starter RHP-Jesse Foppert from the game and forced reliever LHP-Ben Snyder to deal with a bases loaded jam in the top of the third. Trenton would deliver three runs on back to back hits by Justin Snyder and Eduardo Nunez to regain a 4-2 lead.

The Defenders plated one in the fourth to trim the lead to one but had to manufacture a run in the seventh. Williams drew a leadoff walk then was sac bunted to second by Bocock which set RF-Tyler Graham up for a big hit that he slapped past the diving glove of the first baseman Smith to tie the game at 4 all.

The game drifted into the tenth and the Defenders would reach on another error by Nunez with two outs then get a hit by Pill but pinch hitter Andy D'Alessio would strikeout to end the game.

Brett Pill was perfect going 3-3 with two singles, a double and two walks while scoring two runs.

Jesse English (1-1) suffered the loss throwing two innings of one hit ball, walked and struck out one while giving up an earned run. Michael Dunn (1-1) picked up his first win after hurling an impressive 2.2 innings out two hit baseball, walked one and struck out three.

The series is tied at one and tomorrow's matchup features a pair of righties in RHP- Henry Sosa for Connecticut and RHP- Ivan Nova for Trenton.
