CURVE, Pa. - There was no shortage of offense for the Altoona Curve on Friday night against the Rock Cats as the Curve hammered out 10 runs on a season-high 17 hits en route to a, 10-2, win over New Britain at BCB. Chase d'Arnaud and Josh Harrison each tied career highs in the game while Matt Hague set a career high in RBI with four and Bryan Morris (3-1) earned his third Double-A win.

With the game tied at two in the bottom of the fifth, Altoona used the first of two three-run innings to take the lead for good. After Miles Durham flew out, Shelby Ford, d'Arnaud and Gorkys Hernandez all reached off the starter Kyle Gibson (3-2) to load the bases. Harrison, who drove in Altoona's first run of the game with a sac fly in the first, doubled off the wall in left-center field to bring home Ford and d'Arnaud to make it, 4-2, Curve. Matt Hague followed with a sac fly of his own to bring in Hernandez and it ran the Curve lead to, 5-2.

Altoona went right back to work against the new Rock Cats pitcher Chris Province in the sixth, scoring three more runs on five hits. Singles by Durham, Ford and d'Arnaud to start the inning loaded the bases for Hernandez, who singled in Durham with an infield single to short for Altoona's sixth run. Harrison cashed in with another sacrifice fly to make it, 7-2 Altoona. After an RBI fielder's choice by the next batter Hague, the Curve led, 8-2.

The Bellevue, Wash. native wasn't done as he hit his fifth home run of the year in the eighth, a two-run shot off reliever Michael Allen, to make it, 10-2.

Morris lasted six innings for a second-straight start for the Altoona Curve and allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. At one point in the game Morris retired 10 Rock Cats batters in a row. Derek Hankins pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in relief of Morris, which extended his scoreless innings streak to a Curve season-high 15.1 innings. Jeff Sues worked the ninth and faced the minimum.

The 17 hits by Altoona set a season high, surpassing the previous season-high of 16. The four-hit game by d'Arnaud is a season-high and tied a career high for the Pepperdine product while Harrison's four-RBI game also tied a career high.

Altoona (40-21), the first team in the E.L. to 40 wins, and New Britain (16-44) will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the second game of the quick three-game series. E.L. wins leader Jared Hughes (8-2, 3.53) will take the mound for Altoona while RHP David Bromberg (3-4, 3.79) starts for New Britain.

Saturday night marks the appearance of Mad Chad, the juggling chainsaw daredevil, at BCB presented by U.S. Foodservice. It's also the first Scout Night of the season and a Community Collection Day at BCB. Fans are encouraged to bring their old, used American flags to the ballpark so they can be properly disposed of courtesy of the American Legion. Kids can run the bases after the game.
