Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Aeros made a roster move today as IF Beau Mills was placed on the disabled list (retro to 6/10) and RHP Carlton Smith was activated from the disabled list.
Mills goes on the disabled list retroactive to yesterday with an intercostal strain. He has played 54 games this season, third on the team, and owns a .205 batting average overall. The 23-year-old California native is also currently tied for the Akron lead with 32 RBI as well as tied for second with 11 doubles. He was Cleveland's first-round selection in the June 2007 Draft out of Lewis & Clark State and also played the entire 2009 season with the Aeros.
Smith returns from the disabled list today after missing nearly two weeks of action with a left oblique strain. He began this season with the Class AAA Columbus Clippers and made 10 appearances before returning to Akron where he spent all of last year. He is 24 years old and has a 0-1 record with two saves and a 0.96 ERA in 9.1 innings of relief for the Aeros this season. The Cleveland Indians selected in the 21st round of the June 2004 Draft.
