
Rock Cats Infielder Heads To Rochester

New Britain Rock Cats News Release
The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced this morning that 25-year-old INF Yancarlos Ortiz has been promoted to Rochester in the Triple-A, International League.
A versatile Infielder who performed in New Britain for portions of the last two seasons, the switch-hitting Ortiz departs the 2010 Rock Cats after appearing in 30 games and batting .254. The 5'9"/150-pound native of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic played in 106 contests last year in New Britain and, in addition to providing steady defense at three different infield positions, finished the year with a .223 BA.
Ortiz was signed by the Rock Cats' parent club, the Minnesota Twins, as a non-drafted Free Agent in March of 2003. He will join the Triple-A classification Rochester team today in Columbus, OH - and be in uniform tonight when the Red Wings' play the host Clippers at 7:05 PM.
