Curve fall to SeaWolves, 4-3

ERIE, PA - For the second consecutive night the Altoona Curve fell to the Erie SeaWolves (AA-Detroit Tigers) by just a single run, 4-3, in their season series finale at Jerry Uht Park Monday night.

Altoona took the lead early with a run in the top of the first on a RBI single by Jonel Pacheco, but Erie would answer with a run in the bottom of the first and second innings on solo home runs by Andy Dirks and Santo De Leon. De Leon drove in two more runs in the sixth inning on a double. He finished the night 2-for-3 with home run, a double and three RBIs.

Pirates No. 1 prospect Pedro Alvarez went 2-for-4 in his final game with the Curve this season. Alvarez will now join Team USA in the Baseball World Cup. Pacheco also finished the night 2-for-4 for his fourth consecutive multi-hit night.

Curve lefty Daniel Moskos (10-10) took the loss Monday. Moskos threw 6.0 innings allowing four runs on six hits striking out a season high eight batters, the eight strikeouts matches Moskos' career high he achieved with the Lynchburg Hillcats (Advanced-A) on 5/14/08.

The Curve (60-75) return home Tuesday to being their final homestand of the 2009 season. Altoona welcomes in the Akron Aeros (AA-Cleveland Indians) for a three game set. Game one of the series is set to begin at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday with radio coverage beginning at 6:05 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Altoona Curve Radio Network with the Marzoni's In-the-Zone Pre-Game Show.

RHP Yoslan Herrera (10-1, 3.23) will try to win a Curve best 11th game Tuesday as he takes on Aeroes right hander Connor Graham (1-3, 5.08). It's the final Two-For-Tuesday of the season at BCB where fans can enjoy two-for-one deals on tickets, popcorn, and hot dogs courtesy of Atlantic Broadband.
