Arnesen leads Sens to 8-4 win over Connecticut

On Monday night at Metro Bank Park the Senators doubled up the Connecticut Defenders 8-4. With the win, the Sens have again moved to within a game of .500 at 66-67. They gained a split in the four-game series with Connecticut and also gained a split in the season series. The two teams split their eight game season series four and four.

The Sens took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run triple off the bat of Ricardo Nanita. After Connecticut cut the lead in half, the Sens plated three runs in the third inning to break the game open. Marvin Lowrance had a bases-loaded rbi single, then Bill Rhinehart singled in two runs to give the Sens a 5-1 lead.

Harrisburg then tacked on single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings for their total of eight. Josh Phelps homered twice for Connecticut, a two-run shot in the sixth and a solo shot in the eighth.

Erik Arnesen notched his eighth win on the season going seven strong innings and allowing just three runs. Drew Storen came on in the ninth for Cory VanAllen with runners on first and second and no outs, but retired the final three batters in order to pick up his ninth save on the season.

Joel Guzman and Lowrance both had three hits for the Sens while Freddie Bynum and Nanita both had two hits.
