Jason Stephens Transferred From Tampa To Trenton

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Jason Stephens has been transferred from Tampa (High-A) to Trenton. Stephens will start for the Thunder tonight against New Britain. C Kyle Anson has been placed on the Disabled List.

Stephens is 3-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 11 games (eight starts) for Tampa this season. He has had two separate stints with the Thunder. He is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 11 games (six starts) for Trenton this season. Stephens also has appeared in three games (one start) for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (Triple-A), and had a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA. The Tallmadge, Ohio native spent most of the 2008 season with Charleston (Low-A). He appeared in 17 games (eight starts) and went 2-3 with a 3.02 ERA. He was selected to the 2008 South Atlantic League All-Star Game. He also went 3-5 with a 4.47 ERA in 11 games (eight starts) for Tampa. He made one start for Trenton on August 8th against Akron. Stephens was drafted by the Yankees in the 6th round of the 2003 draft out of Tallmadge High School.

Baker has played in eight games for Trenton and is 2 x 16. In 10 games for Staten Island, he has a .241 BA with two home runs and six RBI. In 2008, Baker appeared in two games for Tampa and went 1-for-7. The Oklahoma City, OK native was signed by the Yankees as an undrafted free agent on 6/12/08.

Trenton wraps up a four-game series tonight against New Britain at Waterfront Park. Stephens (1-1, 2.70) will start tonight against New Britain RHP Matt Fox (9-9, 3.64). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
