Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, Pa - In conjunction with the Altoona Curve's bevy of festivities lined up for the team's upcoming home stand over Memorial Day weekend, the team is announcing a terrific ticket value for students of all ages and all military personnel and veterans.
To kick off the team's five-game, four-day series against the Reading Phillies (AA - Philadelphia), all students from kindergarten to college will receive $3 general admission and outfield reserve tickets and $4 grandstand tickets over the four-day holiday weekend (Friday through Monday). Students can fill out a ticket order form sent to their school, call in their order toll-free at 1-877-99-CURVE, or present a student ID at the window to take advantage of the offer.
All parents, teachers, administrators, staff and students from the Altoona Area school district can also enjoy $3 Memorial Day weekend tickets by filling out the AASD Family Day order form they received from the Curve last week. Those wishing to purchase the half-price grandstand tickets for the AASD may also order on the toll-free line, 1-877-99-CURVE.
On Monday at 12:05 p.m., the Curve will salute all active and retired military personnel with a special two-for-one ticket offer. By presenting a valid military ID or some other proof of service (VFW membership, VA card, etc.), any ticket can be purchased at regular price and a complimentary ticket will be provided.
"We were already excited about having a fantastic holiday weekend with our outstanding list of appearances and promotions, but we wanted to add more value to it for kids, their families and the courageous men and women who are serving or have served our country," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan.
The fun begins against Reading on Friday at 7:05 p.m. with a special appearance by Pirates' 1979 World Series Champion John Candelaria. Candelaria will throw out the night's ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs on the concourse for two hours during the game. On Saturday at 5:05 p.m., the Curve will play a double-header with 1971 World Champ and current Pirates' broadcaster Steve Blass scheduled to sign autographs, throw out a first pitch, and participate in an on-field event. Kids will also enjoy an appearance by the Pirate Parrot. The Curve will don Pittsburgh Pirates uniforms that night as well. In addition on Saturday, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Curve Camo Hat, courtesy of Holiday Inn Express.
