Jonathan Hovis Transferred From Trenton To Tampa

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Jonathan Hovis has been transferred from Trenton to Tampa.

Hovis was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in two games for the Thunder. He pitched three shutout innings in his first appearance for the Thunder on May 11th vs. Portland. He appeared in eight games for Tampa. He was 0-2 with a 2.08 ERA and one save. In 2008, the reliever went 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA in 21 appearances for Tampa. He only allowed 13 hits and three walks in 23.2 innings pitched. The 5-foot-11 right-hander is in his fourth season in the Yankees organization after being signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 3, 2006. Hovis played collegiately at the University of North Carolina, and was a pre-season All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection prior to the 2006 season.

On Tuesday, Trenton starts a three-game series against the Akron Aeros (Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). LHP Wilkin De La Rosa (1-0, 2.45) will start for Trenton against Akron RHP Josh Tomlin (4-1, 3.82).
