Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

DULUTH, GA - Two goals and two assists from rookie forward Ryan Cruthers powered the Sea Wolves offense to a 4-2 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiatrs at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday night.

Ryan Cruthers' 12th goal of the season ended half a game of scorelessness at 10:43 of the second period when he broke down the slot and snuck a puck underneath Gladiators' netminder Kevin Nastiuk to give the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead. Cruthers' extended the Mississippi lead to two when he hammered home the rebound of Bill LeClerc's shot from the left point at 13:15. Brandon Kaleniecki got Gwinnett on the board when his wrist shot from the left wing beat Sea Wolves goalie Riku Helenius on the long side at 18:47 of the second.

Ryan Menei restored Mississippi's two-goal lead at 3:21 of the third when he broke down the right wing and popped the puck over a sliding Nastiuk for his second goal of the year. Mike Berry's fourth goal of the season on a feed from Cruthers gave the Sea Wolves a 4-1 lead at 8:47 of the third. Just eight seconds later, Gwinnett's Jordan Fox broke into the zone and put the puck under Helenius for his ninth goal of the season, but Gwinnett was unable to muster any further offense as the Sea Wolves held on for the 4-2 victory.

Riku Helenius made 49 saves in his Mississippi debut to earn the win, and the Sea Wolves were 1-for -3 on the power play, while managing to kill off all seven Gladiators man-advantages.
