RoadRunners Sign Five-Time All-Star John McNabb

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, announced today the signing of free agent forward John McNabb.

McNabb, 30, is a two-time ECHL All-Star and a three-time Central Hockey League All-Star, and has totaled 241 goals, 300 assists, and 541 points over a 10-year playing career. The Calgary, Alberta native set career-highs last season with 50 assists and 82 points in 71 games with the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL and finished sixth overall in the ECHL scoring race. McNabb led the Wildcatters to a club-best 52-9-11 record in 2007-08 and a share of the regular season points crown with the eventual Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones. He was named to the 2007-08 All-ECHL Second Team and finished fifth in the ECHL's Most Valuable Player voting, and was selected as the Captain of the American Conference roster that particpated at the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton, Calif.

McNabb led the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League in scoring in both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons and ranks as one of the Ice Bats' all-time leading scorers with 91 goals, 98 assists, and 189 points in 174 games. He has spent a bulk of his professional career in the ECHL collecting 145 goals, 201 assists, and 346 points in 416 regular season games with Texas, Florida, Long Beach, Jackson, Pensacola, and Johnstown.

McNabb is expected to be in uniform along with recently acquired defenseman Jeremy Swanson when the RoadRunners take on the Victoria Salmon Kings tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The RoadRunners open a brief two-game road trip at 8:05 p.m. Friday when they visit the Victoria Salmon Kings at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in the opener of a weekend series. Catch all the action live on Independent 1310 KXAM beginning with "RoadRunners Countdown" at 7:45 p.m.

Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 as they welcome the Utah Grizzlies for a two-game series.
