
Coyotes assign LeNeveu to Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 15, 2005) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, have assigned goaltender David LeNeveu (leh-NEHV-yoo) to the American Hockey League club and that the Coyotes have recalled goaltender Brian Boucher and left wing Steve Gainey from San Antonio.
LeNeveu, who will join the Rampage in Manitoba, has played in nine games in his rookie NHL season with the Coyotes, posting a 2-5-2 record, 3.20 goals-against average (GAA) and an .885 save percentage (SV%). The 22-year-old netminder, has appeared in 86 career AHL games, compiling a 27-51-6 record with a 2.85 GAA and a .913 SV%. LeNeveu, an AHL All-Star in 2004, was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the 2nd round (46th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Boucher, 28, has not played in any NHL games this season after injuring his groin during an exhibition shootout in the team's first preseason game on Friday, Sept. 16 vs. Minnesota. During his two-week conditioning assignment with the Rampage, which began on Dec.1, Boucher registered a 2-2-0 record with a 1.18 goals against average (GAA), a .959 save percentage (SV%) and 1 shutout. Boucher allowed just six goals and made 139 saves in five games during the conditioning stint.
The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Gainey currently leads all Rampage players in assists and points with 12 assists and 19 points in 22 games this season. He also ranks second on the club in goals (7) and power play goals (4). Gainey has also played in five games this season with the Coyotes, recording three shots. Gainey, 25, signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Nov. 4, 2005. In his NHL career, he has played in 18 NHL games (0-1-1 and 14 PIM) split between Phoenix and Dallas over parts of four seasons.
