Coyle Reassigned from Idaho to Texas
January 7, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (1/7/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Monday afternoon that defenseman Jace Coyle has been reassigned to Texas of the American Hockey League from Idaho by the NHL's Dallas Stars.
Coyle is the third player today to be called up by Idaho's AHL affiliate, joining forwards Austin Smith and Justin Dowling. Defensemen Gord Baldwin and Hubert Labrie, each of whom have seen extensive ice time with Idaho this season, are also currently on the Texas roster.
Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the NHL's Dallas Stars. The American Hockey League is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.
The 22-year-old Coyle is in his second professional season and has split both between Texas and Idaho. In 18 games with Idaho this season, the Cranbrook, BC, product had 13 points (one goal, 12 assists). He had points in eight of his last ten games with the Steelheads prior to Monday's recall, including a career-high three-point night against Colorado on December 1. Coyle had an assist and a plus-4 rating in his last game with Idaho, a Saturday-night win over Bakersfield in Boise.
The Steelheads (22-7-5) are in action on the road Thursday at San Francisco. Game time is 8 PM (Mtn) and can be heard live on KTIK (1350 AM) in the Treasure Valley.
Idaho returns home on Friday, January 4, to host the Bakersfield Condors. Group nights are a great way to get family, friends, co-workers, and colleagues together at CenturyLink Arena at a discounted price. Groups can also include a Double-R Ranch hot dog, Tim's Cascade chips, and a small Pepsi. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
