Athletic Trainer, Equipment Manager Named for 2013 ECHL All-Star Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Monday announced that Brad Fredrick of the Toledo Walleye has been named the athletic trainer and Mike Burkhead of the Alaska Aces has been named the equipment manager for the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game presented by University of Colorado Health following voting by each of the league's trainers and equipment managers.

The 2013 ECHL All-Star Week, presented by CCM, begins on Tuesday, Jan. 22 with the ECHL All-Star Skills Competition, presented by OtterBox, and continues with the ECHL All-Star Game, featuring the Colorado Eagles taking on the ECHL All-Stars, on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Both events begin at 7:05 p.m. MT at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo.

Fredrick is in his fourth season with the Toledo Walleye after serving the same role with the Toledo Storm for three seasons. He handles the daily treatment, rehabilitation, evaluation and workouts of all Walleye players. Prior to joining Toledo, the Bowling Green State University graduate spent nine years covering high school athletics through Sports Care Toledo. Fredrick graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1995 with a degree in athletic training.

Burkhead is in his fifth season with the Aces, having previously served in similar capacities with the ECHL's Columbia Inferno and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. A graduate of Ohio State University, Burkhead served as an equipment manager at the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in Ontario and was selected as the 2010-11 ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year .

The sixth class will be inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Jan. 23, 2013 during a luncheon ceremony presented by BFL Canada at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center, the official host hotel of the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game. Click here to download the ticket order form.

The past nine ECHL All-Star Games have generated more than $1 million each for the local economy as guests, players, coaches and fans occupy hundreds of hotel rooms and spend three days in the host city.

The game has been available on the NHL Network the last nine years as well as being broadcast on multiple regional networks. The audio broadcast has been carried on XM Satellite Radio as well as being available in all ECHL markets.
