Elmira Jackals News Release

Marco Cousineau made 32 saves and the Elmira Jackals (11-3-4-0) ended the Cincinnati Cyclones' (7-6-5-1) 10-game point streak with a 3-2 victory at First Arena on Saturday night.

A.J. Perry kicked off the scoring with a power-play goal at 9:19 of the first period. His shot from the right circle redirected off of a Cyclone and past the glove side of Cincinnati goaltender Chet Pickard to give Elmira a 1-0 lead with assists credited to Brad Miller and Eric Lampe.

Scott Lehman had the puck poked to him by Sam D'Agostino at 9:54 of the middle period, and Lehman beat Cousineau low, blocker side with a wrist shot to tie the game, 1-1.

Elmira took the lead for good moments later. The Jackals broke in on a three-on-one play, and Yannick Tifu fed Andrew Sweetland for a top-shelf one timer from the right circle to claim a 2-1 advantage at 11:57.

At 12:48 of the second, Eric Lampe and Justin Donati teamed up to boost the Jackals' lead to two goals. Lampe fed Donati to the left side of the offensive zone, and Donati slid the puck back for Lampe to the right goal line. Lampe's shot from that spot went past Pickard's glove for his fifth goal of the season and Elmira's third tally of the night, making it 3-1. R.J. Anderson had his second assist in as many nights on the play, while Donati extended his scoring streak to four games (1g-4a).

The Cyclones scored 25 seconds into the third period with Barret Ehgoetz redirecting a T.J. Fast blue-line drive past Cousineau to pull the Cyclones to within one at 3-2.

From there, however, the Jackals and Cousineau clamped down on the Cyclones with the St. Lazare, Quebec native stopping the last 12 Cincinnati shots and improving his record to 7-2-4-0. Pickard made 22 saves on 25 shots as he dropped to 1-4-2-0.

The Jackals take on the Florida Everblades on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at First Arena. For tickets, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
