
Aces Fall to Devils 5-2

A shorthanded team in the third game in four nights wasn't enough for the Alaska Aces, as five different Trenton Devils scored in a 5-2 win at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ on Saturday night. The Aces are 3-2 on their current, eight game road trip, and fell to 10-6-1 on the year. The Aces will now head to Idaho for the final three games on the trip. Matt Lombardi got the scoring started at3:51 with a slapshot from the high slot to make it 1-0 Devils. The Aces answered when Bryan Miller scored a power play goal at 15:40 to tie the score 1-1. But the Devils reclaimed the lead at 2-1 when Ryan Hayes scored at 18:45 of the first period.
The Devils increased their lead to 3-1 in the second period when J.S. Berube scored on his own rebound at 15:45 of the second. The aces got within a goal when Garry Nunn scored from the high slot later in the period, but that's as close as Alaska would come. Third period goals from Tony Zancanaro and Jeremy Akeson sealed the 5-2 Devils win.
Gerald Coleman (7-5-1) made 37 saves on 41 shots in the loss. Mike Brown (1-0) earned the win, with 34 saves on 36 shots in his Devils debut. The Aces power play went 1-4, while the Devils went 0-2. The Aces were outshot by the Devils 42-36 in the game.
The Aces will conclude their eight-game road trip with three games in Idaho on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Aces will return home to host the Victoria Salmon Kings on Wednesday, December 8th.
