
Cougars Secure Dominant 4-0 Victory Over Portland In Road Triumph

PORTLAND, OR - The Prince George Cougars showcased a commanding performance, concluding their three-game US road-swing with an impressive 4-0 victory over the Portland Winterhawks at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.
Dynamic plays from Zac Funk, Riley Heidt, and Terik Parascak spearheaded the Cougars' offensive prowess, amassing an outstanding nine points collectively. Notably, Zac Funk recorded his fourth hat-trick of the season, bringing his total goals to 30 this season. Goaltender Josh Ravensbergen displayed antoher exceptional performance, earning his fifth shutout of the season with 33 saves on 33 shots.
The Cougars demonstrated their prowess early in the game, replicating the previous night's performance in Spokane. Zac Funk ignited the scoreboard with a well-placed tap-in goal at 13:14, courtesy of a precise feed from Riley Heidt. Terik Parascak showcased his prowess at 17:32, orchestrating a brilliant play to secure the puck and set up Ondrej Becher for his 16th goal of the season. The Cats outshot Portland 15-6 in the first period, leading 2-0.
In the second period, Prince George continued their offensive dominance, led by the exceptional performance of Zac Funk. The 20-year-old from Coldstream, BC, solidified his league-leading status with goals at 2:29 and 18:45, bringing his season total to 30. Despite Portland's attempts in front of the net, Josh Ravensbergen thwarted every opportunity, preserving the shutout.
The Cougars maintained their resilience in the final frame, with Ravensbergen delivering outstanding goaltending, securing their fifth consecutive road win with a decisive 4-0 victory. The Cats completed a weekend sweep and now turn their attention to the upcoming clash against the Victoria Royals on Friday and Saturday night at the CN Centre.
