
Hawks Acquire Avakyan from Tri-City

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced the acquisition of goaltender Nicholas Avakyan ('04) from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
Avakyan, 19, has played 56 WHL games across a three-year career, including four appearances thus far in the 2023-24 campaign. Debuting in the 2021-22 season, the Glendale, Calif. native has played 25-plus games in each year of his career with Tri-City, and joins the Winterhawks with a 4.74 career GAA and a .870 save percentage.
Avakyan is eligible to play in tonight's game and will temporarily wear #37.
