Kane County Cougars News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The Kane County Cougars cruised past the Dayton Dragons on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Field, winning 18-3 in a laugher in front of 7,919 in Ohio. The Cougars knocked out a season-high 20 hits, half of which went for extra bases. Jeremy Barfield went 4-for-5, and five others joined him with a multi-hit effort. The victory helped the Cougars win the series after they'd dropped their last two sets. They also ended their six-game road trip with a 3-3 mark.

The Cougars scored in six of their nine innings, including a four-run fifth and a six-run seventh. Barfield hit his first homer in the second, and Grant Desme launched a two-run blast in the fourth. The Cougars belted eight doubles. Dusty Napoleon had two and drove in three, and Carlos Arrieche had two and plated three. Mitch LeVier, Jason Christian and Franklin Hernandez also collected two RBIs apiece, as the Cougars rolled to their easiest victory this year.

Pedro Figueroa (3-1) was the beneficiary of all the support. The left-hander allowed three runs on six hits and walked four over 5 1/3 innings. Jamie Richmond and Leonardo Espinal combined to retire the final 11 Dragons in order.

The Cougars (19-11) are off Monday and open a four-game series at home Tuesday night at 6 CDT against the Burlington Bees.
