South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that right-handed starter Trevor Harden has been promoted to high-A Visalia. Taking his spot on the active roster is RHP Randy Rodriguez. In addition, catcher Ryan Babineau will return to extended spring training in Arizona to continue his rehab.

Harden was 5-1 with a 2.39 ERA in six games for South Bend this season. He leads the Midwest League in wins (five) and innings pitched (37.2), while ranking ninth in ERA. Harden has also thrown the only complete game shutout in the league thus far, a seven-inning gem against the Dayton Dragons on April 28th at Coveleski Stadium in game one of a doubleheader. Selected in the 14th Round of the June 2008 draft, Harden will join Visalia for their next game on Tuesday against San Jose.

Rodriguez joins the Silver Hawks from extended spring training and will be in uniform for Tuesday's game against the Lansing Lugnuts. Signed as a non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2006, Rodriguez has been used as both a starter and reliever in his career. Last season with Missoula (Rookie), Rodriguez was 2-6 with an 8.10 ERA in 16 games, nine as a starter.

Babineau has been on the disabled list since April 24th with a hip injury. He will return to extended spring training camp in Tucson to continue his rehab and for further treatment.

After an off day Monday, the Silver Hawks continue their home stand with a four game series against the Lansing Lugnuts beginning Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM. For more information about the team or to purchase tickets, please visit www.silverhawks.com.
